Monday ~ Plug Your Mates

As today is Monday, it is Plug Your Mates Day and today I have chosen A Passion for Vintage Textiles to plug.

She is from Toronto in Canada and I really enjoy seeing her displays at her market stalls and hearing about what vintage jumpers she has saved from obscurity and sold to other vendors or other purchasers!

She also has photos of beautiful vintage scarves and her photos of seasonal changes are a reminder that seasons change as the world turns. While it may be warm in Australia, it is getting cold and frosty in Toronto!

So go and check out her blog and have a great Monday!

Monday ~ Plug Your Mates

It is Monday and I have choosen Fairchild Street to plug.

She has been blogging since mid August, and the photos on her blog are glorious.

She sews, she DIY's and you should see what she can do with a plain old pine set of drawers!

DIY

So head on over and check out her work!

Also, today I went shopping at my local oppies and scored a few treasures ... I'll save them to share with you tomorrow!

While I was in one, a man from the local real estate agent came in with four bags of clothes his wife no longer wanted and they said no thank you because they were a size 6. He looked aghast and took them back out and started to take them back to his car. I said "stop, I know the other store would love them" and asked him to leave them out the front and I would take them around when I had finished my purchases, which I did, while they were wrapping mine in paper.

I'm glad that I took them around the corner, because they appreciated them. They also knew who the man was as they pay the rent for the shop to his agency. I went and told him that they really appreciated them and he was thankful. He said that he has a wife and three kids and he had been taking things to the first shop for some time and had never had that reaction before.

At least now he will know which shop to take the things to and know that the money will stay in the community. I am pretty sure if I hadn't intervened, he would have taken his things home and dumped them in the bin as the reaction he got was unexpected and he felt unappreciated.

If you work in a shop, please be mindful of your reaction to donations. You might be chopping your nose off despite your face.

A lot of the things he had donated were from Events and other stores and would have suited lots of teenage girls .....

Monday ~ Plug Your Mates

I was feeling guilty about not posting today, as I have spent much of the day packing and unpacking from a camping trip at a great caravan pack on the south coast of New South Wales for my son's 5th birthday, and suddenly inspiration struck in the form of MonetPaisley!

 http://monetpaisley.blogspot.com/2010/11/swimwear-giveaway.html

Did you read that? GIVEAWAY!

She also has an ETSY store just up and running

http://www.etsy.com/shop/monetpaisley?ref=pr_shop_more

I'm imagining my daughter in white dots on red polka dot bikini with this red and white striped hat, which is a recent gift to her from my Aunty Helen ...

Anyway, go and check out her site and perhaps one of your cherubs might be wearing one of her creations some day soon!

Whisper on the wind is this a great Chrissie present in the southern hemisphere!

Monday ~ Plug Your Mates

Today is Monday and as I declared Monday ~ Plug Your Mates Day and as I only have one real friend who actually blogs that I know about it, I have been debating loudly who to choose! (Okay, silently, the kids and husband are sleeping and I am actually writing this on Sunday evening as I listen to the movie Juno in the background!)

Let me introduce you:

http://valeriesownsewingblog.blogspot.com/

I discovered Valerie this week when she left a comment on my blog and have chosen her for three reasons.

1. She lives in Sydney, where I also live and she has cool photos of Sydney city on her blog;

2. She has fabulous sewing on her blog and anybody who can sew a fabulous cocktail dress like she has made (the blue one) and still call it quick, has to be a good sewer; and

3. She leaves lovely comments!

So go and look at her handiwork and then you may want to hit follow!

And when my daughter gets home from school, we'll do the entries into comp on a previous blog and draw the winner and post! We were a little lollied out with Halloween which she and my son completely loved for obvious reasons.  I even got out my sewing machine, inspired by all these marvellous sewing blogs I read and made my son a black dracula cape from the fabric and red ribbon purchased on Saturday, which looked very stylish with his red spraypainted hair, mask and blue gum boots and I might post a photo when I charge the batteries for the camera.

Now please go and read and come back and tell me if you like her blog (and leave her a comment too!)

And who knows who I might plug next week, it could be you .... (thank you all my new followers!!) Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Monday ~ Plug Your Mates

I don't know if Monday has a theme for blogging yet, but I am going to declare it

"Monday ~ Plug Your Mates Day"

on my blog and if I knew how to use one of those linky tools, well I certainly would.

One of my old school friends who I met up with again at my recent 20th Year Reunion let me into the secret world of her blog last night and I can't be selfish about this. I have to share. She is seriously funny and deserves to be read by a broad cross section of blog land.

Anybody sitting there in a far off country that is not Australia and wondering about the connotations of "plugging your mate" it simply means promoting!

Let me introduce you:

I Am Housewife.....Hear Me Roar (also known as The Roaring Housewife)

This is her description of herself: "I live on the Gold Coast with my husband and daughter. My days are spent playing golf, going to Zumba and drinking decaf skim mocha lattes with a twist of lemon."

Now please go and read and come back and tell me if you like her blog (and leave her a comment too!)

And who knows who I might plug next week, it could be you .... (thank you all my new followers!!)
